Grande Svezia successfully handled in Esbjerg

16. March 2026

In the evening of Friday 27th February, Scandinavian Auto Logistics completed the first call of Grande Svezia at Port Esbjerg. The largest RoRo vessel we have handled to date. The vessel measures 220 meters and can hold up to 9,000 cars.

In preparation for this arrival, both SAL and Port Esbjerg have completed important infrastructure and operational upgrades, ensuring safe and efficient berthing, mooring, and cargo handling.

Grande Svezia is part of Grimaldi Group’s investment in ten next‑generation sister vessels, five of which will enter the EuroMed service. The vessel introduces several advanced sustainability features, including:

  • a 5 MWh battery system
  • shore‑power capability for zero‑emission port stays
  • 2,500 m² solar panels
  • an ammonia‑ready engine design

These technologies collectively support lower CO₂ emissions per transported unit and form part of the company’s long‑term decarbonization.

We extend our thanks to the SAL team, Port Esbjerg, pilots, tug crews and port agents and all partners involved for ensuring safe and efficient operation from first line to departure.

We look forward to continued operations with this vessel and its sister ships as they join the Euromed rotation.
